In line with its ongoing campaign to promote tourism in the Philippines, Singapore Airlines (SIA) in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) recently flew in the airline’s top travel agents in India for a weekend in Manila.
The trip was organized as a familiarization tour so that the agents could experience the best the city has to offer which included a two-night stay at EDSA Shangri-La.
“There was a need to explore and promote a new exotic destination that would appeal to Indians, especially the repeat traveler — a destination that would offer pristine beaches, exciting nightlife, shopping and, of course good, food. We believe that the Philippines has a nice blend of all these and much more,” says Foo Chai Woo, SIA GM in India.
In line with these efforts, Singapore Airlines was the official travel partner of Tanvi Vyas – the 2008 Miss Earth India representative.
Vyas recently flew onboard Singapore Airlines from Mumbai to Manila to compete in the annual beauty pageant under a partnership between Singapore Airlines India and The Times of India Group.
In August, the Singapore Airlines Southeast Asia General Managers meeting was held in Manila. As the first area meeting of the new senior vice president Thoeng Tjhoeng Onn, the meeting aimed to further strengthen the airline’s efforts to position the country as a top tourist destination in the region.
