Washing up on the shore

MANILA, Philippines – Hot hedonism is just one of Boracay’s natural resources, but who says that amid all the guzzle-‘til-you-puke merriment, the island hasn’t got soul? Shoreline, a three-day island immersion of fun in and out of the sun (presented by Smart Gold, Smart MYTV, and Styles Entertainment), proved there’s a lot more to do in Boracay than get sloshed. There was “Soothe the Soul” at the White House Beach Resort on April 17, where everyone got their active tan on from a Super Soaker showdown and games of tug-o’-war and beach volleyball. Tan and taut bodies proceeded to bump and grind when DJ Johnnyverse brought the beats of Embassy Fly’s “Snap Crackle Pop” procession to Club Paraw later that night, creating an epic grad party for all the fresh, out-of-college youth.

There was a lot more to keep spirits up the next day with a frisbee thrown here and a soccer ball kicked there, and Club Manor’s “Social Saturdays” bringing everyone together at Guilly’s after a day of delicious grills and summer games. And while the Boy’s Night Out crew of Magic 89.9 and DJs Ace Ramos, Mars Miranda, and Scratchmark pumped the crowd up every step of the way, Status Magazine TV got it all on video. Of course, the “Sunday Shindig” was a shore-fire means to rest thy soul with beers served up by San Mig. Certainly a good way to cap off the spiritual awakening brought about by “the summer’s best beach event.”
