MANILA, Philippines – Nokia recently culminated the first leg of Nokia ACTS (Artists Coming Together to Serve), one of Nokia Philippines’ corporate social responsibility programs in collaboration with RockEd Philippines and beneficiaries from ChildHope Asia and Virlanie Foundation.
In its first year, Nokia ACTS provided street children, aged eight to 18 years old, music modules that allowed them to learn how to play the guitar, keyboard and drums, and dance which were taught by music notables such as respected musician Noel Cabangon and Radioactive Sago Project’s Francis de Veyra, Juan Miguel Lerma, and Jay Gapasin. Multi- awarded singer and songwriter Ogie Alcasid also lent his time and talent to the program. For the event, he wrote, composed, and sang the children’s graduation song entitled We are One Voice. The graduation rites were held at Eastwood City Walk and featured the performances of Gasolina, Sandwich, and Julianne, much to the delight of the spectators.
Those who want to help in continuing the classes for the next batch of street children may donate by downloading various formats of the exclusive Nokia ACTS song, We are One Voice. A percentage of the download cost will go to the program.
