MANILA, Philippines - She’s a top model who has walked in several fashion shows and appeared in numerous glossies. He’s the man behind the lens, masterfully executing his creative vision through stunning photographs. Pauline Prieto and BJ Pascual are also great friends who have a penchant for dressing up.
And as they delved deeper into the world of fashion, it’s inevitable that the two would also develop a penchant for dressing up.
While Pauline takes inspiration from random everyday things, “As long as it stands out in a sea of trends and colors, I will rock it in a heartbeat!” BJ’s style inspirations lean toward Old Hollywood icons such as Gene Kelly, Marlon Brando, Humphrey Bogart and James Dean. “I like how they can look equally great dressed up or dressed down,” he shares.
When it comes to shopping for their closet must-haves, the two friends share a similar taste in brands as well, opting for Topman and Topshop respectively where they say they often shop when it comes to basics and trendier pieces.
“Otherwise, I mostly do my shopping when I travel or through online stores,” adds BJ. Aside from shopping for tanks, boots and jeans at Topshop, Pauline shares that she’s also currently eyeing the zodiac shirts that are currently in store although something that has been a constant item on her fashion wish list is the perfect pair of black skinnies: “I have a ton but they always seem to fade and I want something that stays jet black all the time!” Other brands that they tend to gravitate towards are Opening Ceremony and Alexander Wang.
Pauline makes it a point to choose her clothes wisely favoring brands like Topshop, which she claims has “affordable pieces that definitely go a long way.” As for BJ, he’s not one to shy away from accessories like bracelets and cuffs. “I usually get them from my travels. My staples are my Margiela fake watch and the railroad spike cuff from Giles & Brother; while my staple woven belt is from Topman.”
In their most recent fashion collaboration with one of their favorite clothing brands, Topshop and Topman, the two got to express their creativity not just through their outfits but also on how they took pictures of each other. “It was simply a road trip full of laughs and smiles and the concept of Beej shooting me and me shooting Beej has been something we’ve been planning to do for a while so it was such a treat to finally tick it off the bucket list!” ends Pauline.
