Holiday economics thrives in World Bazaar 2009

MANILA, Philippines - For Filipinos , the coming of the “ber-months” signals the start of what’s recognized as the longest holiday season in the world. This is especially true for business-minded individuals who want to get the holiday economic buzz going.

“It’s one of the best places to do business during the holidays,” asserts Joseph Ang , founding chairman of Worldbex Services International (WSI). “Here, specialty sellers, established businesses and even hobbyists go side by side in what’s considered as the grandest Christmas bazaar in the country.”

From Dec 4 to 16, World Trade Center will be transformed into a Christmas Wonderland with over 600 booths. Products include accessories, holiday décor, books, music products, houseware, kitchenware, handicrafts, novelty, bath and body, clothing, jewelry, toys, sporting goods, office and school supplies, home and office furnishing, car accessories, telecommunications, footwear, perfume and plastic products.

But the success of the World Bazaar isn’t only measured by its portfolio of exhibitors and products; but through its wide market reach. “We attract alL kinds of people – from the casual shopper, the avid collector to the serious business venturer,” shares Ang. He notes that their expected visitor base exceeds 180,000 people. “There were times when we were even forced to temporarily shut down our doors on account of a full house.”

But business is not the only attraction of the Word Bazaar. Attendees can also add sparkle to Yuletide season by meeting, greeting and buying collectibles from their favorite stars in the Celebrity Village. And true to the Christmas tradition of giving, part of the proceeds of the World Bazaar will go to ABS-CBN Foundation’s Kapit Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig project.

“We make it a point to make every World Bazaar a good one – with buyers keeping cash registers ringing happy tunes and exhibitors feeling the holiday economic buzz.”
