MANILA, Philippines - Fierce bitches crowded the runway at Last Bark in Bryant Park, a dog fashion show in New York helmed by students at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Pooches decked out in the latest finery walked their paws off, displaying designs by the New York institute’s young designers. Key looks included a bomber jacket in leather with a fleece collar as well as a camouflage jumpsuit that took its cue from the prevalent military trend. Retro ensembles, which appeared to draw inspiration from the likes of Dior, also made an appearance.
The gay movement also appeared to wield a large influence, as numerous pups attired in fairy costumes (as well as bondage gear in vivid pink and purple) made their way down the catwalk.
According to the Associated Press, almost all the dogs (save for two from a shelter) were pets of the designers — proving that nepotism is a powerful player in the fashion industry, even when it comes to dogs.
