Lalique is often associated with crystal and glass, an honored tradition passed down with passion by French artists and craftsmen.
Founded in 1888 by French glass designer René Lalique, the lifestyle brand continues to thrive, pushing the limits of French flair and enduring as the ultimate symbol of French luxury.
To celebrate Lalique’s 130th anniversary, Rustan’s Cebu recently held a selling event featuring some of the pieces from the brand’s “Hirondelles” collection.
Through his work, René Lalique explored the decorative possibilities of flora, fauna, and the female form. Among fauna, the swallow particularly inspired him, which he then made the centerpiece of many jewels and decorative objects.
With admiration and respect for this great artist, the brand reinterprets the figure of the swallow which represents the beginning of spring and symbolizes happiness and freedom. Fashioned in satin-finished and re-polished crystal (emblematic of Lalique), the swallows are put together in a graphic play on repetition.
Lalique marks its 130th anniversary with a swallow-themed Hirondelles collection, including these wall sculptures in sapphire blue or clear crystal
The precision of the design echoes the purity of crystal, fashioned by the hand of the best artisans from the crystal factory. Lalique exhibits its exceptional skill in each creation. The halls of its ateliers resonate with a passion for craftsmanship, the love of beauty, and a devotion to excellence.
Flying in for the occasion was Lalique regional director for Southeast Asia and Oceania Daniel Ong. He was joined by Rustan’s Home division manager Cecil Hermoso, Home events manager Malu Liu, and Rustan’s Cebu store manager Pepet Macachor.
