Cebu screams for Blue Bell Creameries ice cream

The journey from Brenham, a small town in Texas to the city of Cebu took over 100 years, but it certainly was worth the wait.

Jessy Puno, nephew of Willy and Pilar Puno is presently employed in Indiana,  the Crossroads of America.  Being away from home he turns to comfort food whenever the need arises — that includes soup to dessert, the whole nine yards. And his choice of top the meal would be his rather recent discovery, ice cream from the Blue Bell Creameries.

The more he sampled the ice cream, the more he was, shall we say, hooked on the product. However, the more he got to eat his share, the more he felt sorry that his family and close relatives, childhood friends and trusted colleagues were missing on a great culinary experience.

So, he talked to the principals of Blue Bell Creameries in Brenham, Texas and obtained the franchise for the Philippines, with operations to start in Cebu.

The over-a-century-old Blue Bell Creameries is still made the old fashioned way — a rarity in this fast moving world of ours, with the best-in-the-market freshest cow’s milk together with cream and farm-sourced eggs in a style that is simply of the respected, homemade quality.

Honoring the Texan wildflower blue bell for its brand, the prized collection of 14 flavors, which is presently made available in over 22 states of America, is attractively packaged with a farm girl and her obedient cow in tow in its distinctive golden lid.

During the recent introductory launch at the Activity Center of Ayala Mall, America’s third most best-selling ice cream showcased a buffet of flavors that included Dutch chocolate, rocky mountain road, banana split, and cookies and cream, butter crunch, strawberry and vanilla.

There are also unique single serve snacks such as  almond bar, chocolate chip country cookie, country cone, vanilla, and country cone, cookies and cream.

All flavors available in Cebu come in pints, half-pints and single serve snacks at Rustan’s supermarket, I.T.Park, Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa, BE Resorts, Gaisano County Mall, and Moon Café.
