MANILA, Philippines - On July 16 last year, a new store concept was added to SM Megamall’s lineup of innovative concepts with the opening of Liturgica at the site of the former chapel on the mall’s fifth level.
A one-stop religious store for church needs as well as for individual devotions, Liturgica was initiated by Felicidad Sy. The ministry’s profit goes to the Archdiocese of Manila.
The store has been a favorite destination of both the laity and the religious because of its wide range of items both for private devotions and church celebrations.
And the faithful will be happy to know that Liturgica now has a new, exclusive range of rosaries. It is said that in 1569, Pope Pius V brought the rosary to its current form and recommended it to be used to meditate on the “mysteries that recall the entire life of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The rosary is a powerful prayer and a wonderful way for us to express our love for our Lord and his mother.
Liturgica has wedding cord rosaries, which are a growing trend. These are custom-made in the store from beads imported from Rome, which couples can select based on their wedding’s color motif. Connected by a silver cross, they can be used in lieu of the traditional cord during wedding ceremonies.
It also has Pope John Paul II rosaries inspired by our beloved Pope, who has recently been beatified. Imported from Italy, this exquisite rosary is fashioned with Swarovski crystals and Murano glass beads, and has a silver finish image of Pope John Paul II as the centerpiece.
There are also birthstone rosaries made from Swarovski crystals and Murano glass beads, some with the image of Padre Pio. They are a great way to celebrate a milestone. Also available are rosaries made of olive wood, seeds from Iloilo, and freshwater pearls.
Liturgica has five sections: Rogate, San Jose, Priest Robes and Vestments, Vitre Artes, and Books. Rogate means to pray and has religious images of Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and the saints, as well as medals, rosaries, and devotional prayers for the faithful. San Jose includes sacred vessels used during Holy Mass like the monstrance, ciborium, chalices, bells, and Mass kits.
The Vitres Artes section has altars, retablos, stained glass art, Holy Water fonts, candle stands, lecterns, and church furniture like pews, which can be made to order.
Liturgica also has a wide selection of inspirational and meditational books for the layman and the religious. Inspirational books include The Thought of Benedict XVI by Aidan Nichols and A Man’s Guide to Prayer by Linus Mundy, while Four Gospels, Aklat ng Pagmimisa sa Roma, and Tasting the Word of God Volumes 1 and 2 by Megan McKenna are among the Meditational books.
Liturgica is located on the fifth level of SM Megamall, Building B. For inquiries, call 636-7654 and 638-4839.
