To say that this is the most awaited film in the history of Pinoy movie match making is an absolute understatement. People who thought something as cosmic as this titanic team up underestimated the gene theory of showbizzle’s most sizzling.
But beyond genes is the synchronized beating of two hearts warmed by kleig lights of movie stardom. This is their birthright. ”I was conceived on a movie movie set,” KC Concepcion says while holding on to the ring slung around her neck—the wedding ring of Sharon and Gabby (no need to expound here). Richard Gutierrez, codename: Chard, strokes KC’s back and whispers sweet nothings as I sit down with the couple for quiet drinks at Martini’s, following their almost 24 hour flight from Greece to Manila. Chard was tanned by the Mediterranean sun, while KC was a blushing babe exhilarated by her soon-to-be big screen baptism.
On the surface, these two seem all too glossily perfect, like paperdolls cut out from silky-fine fabric. People always ask, “What’s the real KC and Chard like?” Witnessing their growth in and out of the limelight, I have a private eye view of the life and times of KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez. When the lines are blurred between reel and real, these two have the same human quirks, urges, desires and instincts as you and me.
They both wanted this—to make a movie together, thus shattering the feudal system of the Kapuso and the Kapamilya—”For the First Time,” a bridge has been built. From Paris to Pinas, from the Greek isles to our Pinoy shores, a righteous romance has blossomed on its own, with the public as willing acomplice.
For now, we all have to wait with bated breaths till Aug 27, where For the First Time, the marquee will shine on these two stars of the Supreme Generation. So while waiting, we dress these dreamboats up in Rajo Laurel threads — we now give you your own KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez paper dolls!
Cut it up and live it up!
