Natural is best

There were too many wakes during the past weeks.  One evening, in the San Antonio chapels for the dead, my friends and I went to three wakes. Two died of cancer, one of massive heart attack. The deceased were not even old for today’s standards. Well, if you consider mid 50s and 60s old, then they’re old. But in this era of advance scientific cures, both mainstream and alternative, a lot of people reach their 70s and 80s in good health.

Those who are in their 80s were born between 1920 and 1930 when the world was not as industrialized as it is today.  People then breathed better quality air, drank tap water without pollutants, ate food without pesticides and herbicides, and used more natural products that had very little chemicals and preservatives. It is just logical to assume that this is their secret for long life. Let us also take into consideration that everything was low-tech then, so there was less radiation and toxic vapors in the air.

In today’s modern times, there are just too many chemicals that we are exposed to in our daily lives, even in the comforts of our homes where we think we are safe. Gas ranges emit carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide, so be sure you have good exhausts in your kitchen. Household products are loaded with chemicals, starting from detergents to scented soaps, window washing compounds, petrochemical base wax candles, ammonia fluids, ozone from kitchen appliances, contents of most spray cans, solvents, paints, air fresheners, and the list goes on and on.

Just very recently, I bumped into Albert Garcia, and we got into a lengthy conversation about patronizing natural products that are devoid of chemicals. We both agreed that ingesting products that have more natural ingredients in them could be beneficial for our health. I look up to him as a kind of guru after he turned me on to C-Lium, which cured all my digestive problems. He is constantly conceptualizing natural products for optimum health.  Garcia is president and CEO of Whealth Inc., a company that he started in 1995 that aims to market health supplements based on natural ingredients. A former member of the Philippine football team and a La Salle Sports Hall of Fame awardee, he has been a preventive health care practitioner for more than 35 years and has followed a personal regimen that aims to prevent and reduce age-related health issues. He definitely practices what he preaches.

Knowing the high incidence of colon cancer among men, he brought to the market C-Lium, a product that is all-natural fiber and imported from Australia.  C-Lium can be bought in all Mercury Drugstores. The success of C-Lium inspired him to bring in ABW, (alfalfa, barley, wheat grass) which are 100-percent natural and organic food supplements that are high in anti- oxidants. They come in powder form which can be mixed with your juices or in easily digested caplet form.  Another natural product that he brought in last year is CranUTI.  This product has been formulated as an all-around health supplement, particularly, maintaining a healthy urinary tract. Main ingredient is cranberry extract, which is one of the best herbal remedies for bladder infections because it inhibits bacterial growth. This is good for sexually active men and women who have chronic urinary tract infections.

For fresh breath and prevention of oral diseases, he has Gargol. Gargol is made of 100-percent pure essential oils: tea tree, (a potent antiseptic, heals mouth ulcers and oral infections), chamomile (a soothing herb, calms inflammation and throat irritation), peppermint (a member of the mint family, keeps breath smelling fresh), myrrh (an all-around oral remedy, helps strengthen spongy gums), thyme (a natural healer, treats mouth infections), propolis  (reduces bacteria and plaque formation, relieves gum inflammation), xylitol (nature’s sweetener that restores oral pH balance and discourages cavity growth).

His latest product which I love is Nyte-E. (pronounced nightie). Ever since I discovered it, I noticed my skin is more toned and nourished. It also relaxes my tired muscles after a hectic workout in the gym.  It is made of superior vitamin E extract and 100-percent pure French lavender essential oil. Both ingredients have been combined into a luxurious night cream designed to promote skin elasticity, regeneration, and a good night’s sleep. As we all know, vitamin E promotes healthy skin and hair, and reduces scarring from some wounds. Lavender eases tension, tiredness, feelings of depression, and relaxes, calms, and rejuvenates the body. It has gentle yet powerful healing properties. The combination of both refreshes, rejuvenates, and tones facial, and body muscles. This product is a truly global brand because the lavender comes from France, the vitamin E is from Australia, and it is packed in an Italian-designed pumps and jars manufactured in Shanghai while the packaging is designed by Filipino graphic artists. Nyte-E can rightfully claim to have an international heritage, a truly global Filipino product.
Compared to the prohibitive prices of some imported products, Garcia’s healthy natural  products are reasonably priced.  C-Lium, ABW, Gargol, and  CranUTI are found in Mercury while Nyte-E is available at Essenses, Rustan’s.
