It was a wine connoisseurs paradise at Toast 2005: The Wine Festival at the Rockwell Tent in Makati. Wine superstore Wine Depot served up two phenomenal days of bacchanalia as wine flowed. The event kicked off with a jovial spray of the bubbly as esteemed guests from the foreign diplomatic community popped Classic Omni Sparkling wines at the tent entrance. The celebration swung into high gear with attendees such as restaurant and hotel representatives, wine enthusiasts, and chefs sampling the festivals amazing selection of 126 wines poured by 35 wineries leading New World wines from Australia, New Zealand, Chile, South Africa, and California, and popular Old World wines from France, Spain, and Argentina. Grace Miranda, who takes care of wholesale operations. Toast 2005s crowning event was at the "Meet the Wine Makers" Dinner Gala & Auction at the New World Renaissance Hotel. At the black-tie affair, hosted by your columnist, guests savored fine cuisine and chatted with the celebrity winemaker of their choice. The wines and the dishes were served with pomp and flourish, as the waiters and wine butlers served with synchronized choreography. The winemakers also presented the wines that they had donated for the evenings highlight a charity auction for the benefit of the Chosen Children Foundation in Tagaytay. Indeed, Toast 2005 was a smashing success!
