A night of model behavior

It all started with a vision to launch a sportswear line. So designer Mel Meer of Bergamo and 5060 Cafe and Bar embarked on a three-month-long Bergamo’s Modelquest 2001 to look for fresh personalities with potential to personify his new sportswear line.

The search recently culminated in a scintillating night hosted by Anthony Suntay and Shaan Bermudez at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater in RCBC Plaza in Makati. Twelve female finalists and 12 male finalists paraded in casual outfits from Levi’s, formal and corporate wear from Bergamo and formal gowns created by members of the Young Designers Guild (YDG) of the Philippines. The male finalists donned Bergamo’s patented suits and tuxedos. Providing musical numbers were Raymond Lauchengco and pianist and musical arranger Alejandro Consolacion.

Adjudged top female winner at the dazzling pageant was Moirra Yarr, a stunning 13-year-old high school freshman from Southville International School. Running away with the top honors was six-footer Joel Posadas, a second-year Mechanical Engineering student. Placing second were Gilmarie Lourdes Pacamarra and Bim Cecilio.

The others who made it to the finalists’ circle were Shasha Benito, Aulorence Alipoon and Mylene Cardozo in the female division and Kristian Uy, James Villanueva and Warley Aggalut in the male category. Pacamarra and Posadas romped off with the best in formal and corporate wear special awards. Yarr and Villanueva were best in swimwear, Yarr and Posadas best in casual wear, Jericho Barrios and Mylene Cardozo most photogenic and Aumar Aguilar Mr. Congeniality.
