MANILA, Philippines - Christmas is a time for many traditions, old and new. And one tradition that has transcended time is that of coming together to share a feast — be it among family members, schoolmates, co-workers or the barkada. There’s always that reunion where you share good food (not necessarily extravagant) and exchange presents.
RC Cola Mega 800 shows this tradition of sharing in its latest TV commercial. The concept of the get-together may be traditional but the execution is definitely now. It features a barkada celebrating the holidays in a market-restaurant, more commonly known as dampa. Part of the fun is choosing the ingredients and having them cooked on the spot. And when the food is set on the table, eating won’t start until everyone has taken a photo of the meal with their cellphones.
Surrounded by good food, good company and a festive atmosphere, the barkada makes the celebration complete with their all-time favorite RC Cola Mega. The 800mL bottle is good for four glasses of refreshing RC Cola and perfect for sharing.
The al fresco setting enhances the novelty of the experience. And when all the food is consumed, the friends hang around exchanging stories under the stars in between sips of RC Cola.
Special effort was put into making the TVC faithful to the real setting — from the vinyl tablecloths stapled to the sides of the table, to the variety of condiments set at the center of the table. Each scene looks as if it was taken from a cellphone. With this commercial, RC Cola retains its strategy of portraying real, everyday images of real Filipinos enjoying a cola.
