Manila, Philippines - The Healthy Start Nutrition Supplementation Program, which aims to improve the nutrition profile of 200 day care children in Barangay Central Signal Village, Taguig City, was recently launched. Healthy Start, which includes a 24-week feeding program as well as cooking lessons and nutrition classes for mothers, is spearheaded by Kurt Cheng (center), a student of Xavier School, in cooperation with Taguig 2nd District Congressman Freddie Tinga and Barangay Central Signal Village captain Nicknok Duenas. Cheng, who has been active in various community feeding projects, was alarmed by the lack of knowledge and access to the right food of young children and their parents, as well as the increasing dependence on junk food for snacks. Also in photo are Kylie and Kerry Tinga, and the beneficiaries of the program.
