'Wake Up and Shake Up' at AIM

MANILA, Philippines - After its grand success in Europe, Art of Living Philippines presents the “Wake Up and Shake Up!” program in Manila. “Wake Up and Shake Up!” is an inspiring and fun-filled two-hour program consisting of meditation, yoga, and wisdom, to be held tomorrow, Sept. 14, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the SGV Hall, Asian Institute of Management Conference Center, Benavidez Street corner Trasierra Street, Makati.

This short activity is excellent to do together with friends, family or organization peers. No prior experience in meditation or yoga is necessary. The event is open to all.

This program will be conducted by Swami Sadyojathah, a senior teacher of the Art of Living Foundation and director of its international affairs. He has been travelling around the world for over 10 years conducting yoga, meditation, and trauma relief, spreading knowledge of ancient techniques on how to live life with a deep sense of joy and enthusiasm.

Art of Living Foundation is one of the largest volunteer-based non-profit educational, charitable, and humanitarian organizations holding special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. The Art of Living Foundation also focuses on conflict resolution, disaster and trauma relief, poverty alleviation, empowerment for women, prisoner rehabilitation, and environmental sustainability. Today, it has chapters in over 145 countries. More than 100 million people worldwide have participated in the Art of Living workshops. The programs are found to engender a greater sense of belongingness as well as a feeling of responsibility towards humanity as a whole.

In the Philippines, Art of Living volunteers have received accolades for their work in rehabilitation programs for inmates at Bilibid prison, and in trauma-relief efforts following typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. Volunteers have teamed up with the Red Cross to provide trauma relief workshops (called the Breath Water Sound program) to thousands of people in evacuation centers. Breath Water Sound uses meditation, yoga, and breathing techniques to help manage the stress of those suffering from traumatic events.

Members of the media may participate in this event free of charge.
