Herbanext bags second place in food expo

MANILA, Philippines - Herbanext Laboratories, Inc., a Negros-based company manufacturing herbal-based food products and supplements under the Daily Apple brand, won second place at the Trendy Awards at the 8th International Food Exhibition (IFEX).

Held at the SMX Convention Center from May 12-16, IFEX is the country’s premier annual showcase of Philippine food and beverages. Competing among 30 nominees, Herbanext’s Sweet Roselle impressed the board of judges who included Trendy Award founder and Cook magazine editor-in-chief Nancy Reyes-Lumen, restaurateur Glenda Barredo, and Ige Ramos, editor of Rustan’s Supercenters Inc.’s sansRival.

Herbanext’s Sweet Roselle is a healthy snack made from the calyxes of the Roselle plant, a member of the hibiscus family. Roselle is popularly used in traditional folk medicine in many countries because it is very rich in anthocyanins and phytochemicals. With its unique cranberry-like flavor and intense red color, roselle has interesting potential for use in culinary and confectionary products.

Another Herbanext product, the Lemon Grass Herb, made it as semi-finalist, while its turmeric-flavored banana chips was nominated for the award.

Sweet Roselle and other Herbanext products are available at the Daily Apple Store at the lower level of Westlane (in front of BDO), Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas, Quezon City. For more details, log on to www.dailyapplestore.com.
