MANILA, Philippines – Futsal, a scaled-down version of outdoor soccer played indoors, is the only official form of indoor soccer approved by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). It is normally played on a gymnasium floor, although it can be played on a variety of surfaces. The game does not require the use of expensive dasher boards, therefore making it a very economical and safe sport.
Because the sport is a great skill developer, demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking, pinpoint passing, and a four-second limit on all play restarts, it is an exciting game for both males and females, kids and adults alike.
Raising the popularity of Futsal here in the Philippines, Irok Futsal Team and Festival Supermall join forces in holding the 4th Mizuno Futsal tournament at the Carousel Court of Festival Supermall from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 23 and 24. This is the only Futsal tournament ever held inside a mall.
The Women’s’ Division will take the floor on May 23, while the Men’s Division will be held the following day. Each team is allowed 12 players. There will be a maximum of 10 teams.
