St. Mary’s publishing goes digital with bestselling textbooks

MANILA, Philippines - Making quality materials accessible to technology-savvy children who spend more time doing research or reading online, St. Mary’s Publishing Corporation (SMPC) recently launched the electronic version of its trusted textbook series Developing Reading Power (DRP) and Pagpapaunlad ng Kasanayan sa Pagbasa (PKP).

The DRP and PKP are among SPMC’S longest-running textbooks used by public school students in the past 40 years. These have become reliable resources of students anywhere in the country as both titles carry a book applicable for each grade level.

St. Mary’s Publishing Corporation has produced textbooks for primary and high school students since its founding in 1965 by Vicente C. Catabijan, Jr. His son and SMPC’s current president, Jerry Vicente S. Catabijan, incorporated the company in 1995.

“There is no other way but to go digital today,” said Vicente Catabijan at the launching of the eBooks during the company’s sales awards.“Students now have a choice to learn through the traditional way or electronic version. Whatever medium they choose and whatever form they are more comfortable with, the important thing is they are reading quality materials. By offering e-versions of the DRP and PKP series, we hope to provide students more choices for their learning needs.”

Catabijan said that SMPC, a progressive and forward-looking company, is keen to be present online.

Both the DRP and PKP 1-6 series are now available through the education section of e-books seller flipreads.com.

“We want our books to be easily available to our young learners,” added Catabijan, “and putting it up for sale in Flipreads makes that possible.”

Students and teachers can open an account on flipreads.com and follow the steps to purchase copies of the series they want. Both titles contain engaging stories, illustrations, and activities that aid the students in developing reading comprehension with DRP for English and PKP for Filipino.
