Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu turns one

Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu, the first Radisson Blu in Asia-Pacific, recently turned one year old and to celebrate such an auspicious occasion, hosted a Cotton Club-inspired party, which was attended by Cebu’s business and civic leaders, socialites and media personalities.

As a prelude to the grand first-year celebration and to formally welcome the holiday season, the event kicked off with the ceremonial lighting of the magnificent blue and white 20-foot Christmas tree at the hotel lobby. Doing the honors were Elizabeth Sy, SM Hotels and Convention Corporation president; Hans Sy, SM Investments Corporation president; Radisson Blu general manager Lyle Lewis, and Carlson Hotel president Simon Barlow.

With an art deco motif, the ballroom was transformed into an elegant Cotton Club with female guests clad in flapper costumes, feather boas and stunning headdresses, while the men looked debonair in fedora hats and brogue shoes.

The gala event highlighted Radisson Blu Cebu Hotel’s many accomplishments since its formal opening.

In his welcome remarks, hardworking GM Lewis stated that their market share in Cebu has been steadily increasing and that guest satisfaction scores are among the highest in the region with the Carlson hotel portfolio. He likewise lauded his efficient team for creating the best experience for the guests and continuously giving them compelling reasons to stay with the hotel time and again.

Socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdes was the event’s host while crooner Richard Poon, theater actress Lynn Sherman — the baroness in this year’s Sound of Music Manila run — and the Brass Munkeys provided entertainment.

As part of the celebration, Radisson Blu gave away SM gift vouchers worth P10,000, dinner gift certificates for 10 persons, and an overnight stay at the hotel’s Presidential Suite with dinner and a spa treatment for two and hotel transfers.

A three-night stay at the Executive Suite was given to the best-dressed awardees Bong Deiparine of Amazing Cebu and socialite Yvette Vass. A fabulous fireworks display culminated the truly fun evening.
