Chateau Haut-Brion: A toast to history

MANILA, Philippines - For wine connoisseurs who take delight in an interesting mix of great wines, including those from the exceptional estates in Bordeaux, France, Wine Story is the wine specialty store to visit.  Among the legendary wines that can be found at the store is Chateau Haut-Brion. It is neatly stacked among the Imperials that occupy prime position at the wine store.

Château Haut-Brion, a wine rated a Premier Cru Classé from Graves, is the only wine of the five first growths with the Pessac-Leognan appellation. Haut-Brion also produces a red second wine, from the 2007 vintage renamed Le Clarence de Haut Brion in place of the former name Château Bahans Haut-Brion.

The name Château Bahans Haut-Brion had been in use for at least a century, and over a period it was sold without a declared vintage. Manager Jean-Bernard Delmas retired in 2003 and was succeeded by his son Jean-Philippe Delmas. Prince Robert of Luxembourg who has acted as an administrator at Haut-Brion since the age of 18, became president and directeur général of Domaine Clarence Dillon in 2008.
