MANILA, Philippines - The food styling seminar to be conducted by Delores Custer, scheduled for Sept. 18 at Oceana Restaurant, has been postponed to Nov. 19. The seminar will be held in the same venue. All tickets for the Sept. 18 event will be honored on Nov. 19. Ticket holders also have the option of getting a refund. For refunds, call Ticket World at 891-9999.
Seminar presenters National Book Store, Food magazine and Lifestyle Network have explained that the postponement is due to an emergency surgical procedure that Custer had to undergo. Known in the US as a master food stylist, Custer has taught food styling at the Culinary Institute of America, University of Mississippi, Institute for Culinary Education, George Brown University and the Disney Institute. For her seminar in Manila, she will expound on major topics in her book Food Styling: The Art of Preparing Food for the Camera, which was recently published in the US by John Wiley and Sons. The topics will include overcoming challenges in food styling, trouble-shooting on the set, the controlled vs. the natural look, and meeting the gold standard in food styling. She will also discuss principles of recipe and cookbook writing and how to create visual materials that sell.
Tickets to the Nov. 19 seminar are P4,500 (without Custer’s book) or P7,500 (including Custer’s book, a value worth P4,055). Both seminar fees include lunch to be served by Oceana Restaurant, bottomless cups of coffee, and a chance to win raffle prizes. Major sponsors are John Wiley and Sons, the Center for Culinary Arts, Oceana Restaurant, La Germania, Magnolia Chicken and SM supermarket, while minor sponsors include Kusinart, Samsung and Imarflex. The Philippine STAR is an official media partner and Traders Hotel is the official hotel.
