It’s the Roaring ‘20s for these birthday girls

The invitation said it all. Dress in 1920s glam in black or white, feast on food and wine, blow out the birthday candles, sing and dance and do The Charleston, à la The Great Gatsby.

Cebu’s ageless beauties, achievers in their respective fields, hosted an incredibly fun party at the Highlands Clubhouse of the Maria Luisa Estate Park to jointly celebrate another milestone in their active social lives.

The eight birthday ladies in stunning red outfits with plums, pearls, and pendants included avid golfer Baby Schaap, restaurateur Alice Fernandez, furniture exporter Agnes Huettel, educator Ann Hofer, maker of exquisite home furnishings and accessories Janice Minor, fashion designer Minnie Yuvienco, and working socialites June Alegrado and Grace Colmenares.

To jumpstart the party, the celebrants gamely performed a well-choreographed Charleston number, which surely got everyone in a swinging mood.

Among the guests in celebration were party couples Cris and Kathy Darza, Txabi and Marisa Aboitiz, Jimmy and Bernie Aboitiz, travel specialists Dennis and Kathy Javellana, and Caloy and Sheila Colmenares, multi-awarded fashion designers Jun Escario and Oj Hofer, fashion jewelry designer Butch Carungay, banker Iñaki Martinez, entrepreneur Jay Aldeguer, councilor Gabriel Leyson, publisher Eva Gullas, eligible bachelors Amadeo Chiongbian and Eduard Loop, and lots, lots more.

Just before midnight, a six-tiered – you guessed it – black and white cake artistically created by Bernadette Gallego of La Marea was ushered in. The glamorous gals blew out the candles surrounded by their families and friends.

The party did not end there. No, siree. Champagne, wine and spirits simply flowed on all through the night and into the wee hours.
