It’s a Globe Telecom world after all

The invitees knew better than to miss the much-anticipated and talked-about Globe Telecom party. Led by Manila-based top honcho Ferdinand dela Cruz of the consumer business group, with colleagues Lizanne Uychaco of sales and distribution, segment marketing group head Cathy Palanca Santamaria, Globe Platinum head Mayette Siasoco, Vismin VIP sales head Shella Sarmiento, VIP sales channel head Raya Roa Gonzalez, Globe Platinum senior manager Kristel Dizon, ladies sales channel head Maria Java, and Sony Ericsson marketing manager Patrick Larraga, they warmly welcomed guests with flowing cocktails and appetizing canapés at the beautifully landscaped, well-maintained garden of the Shangri-La Mactan Island Resort.

The competent Cebu Globe Telecom management team, composed of corporate and regulatory affairs Vismin head Jerome Yntig, Visayas corporate marketing’s Ramon Escaño, Globe Ayala Business Center manager Patrick Gloria and Globe SM Center manager Cheryl Tangapa, smilingly milled among guests shortly before they were ushered into the foyer. There, the soon-can’t-leave-home-without new Sony Ericsson K750i two-megapixel camera phone took center stage.

The new more-than-just-a-phone is equipped with innovative features, such as auto focus, 4x digital zoom with the red eye reduction, and an intuitive user interface. It comes with a USB cable for fast transfer of pictures, video, and music to and from a PC. In combination with the bluetooth media center MMV-200, the K750i can be used to view pictures and videos on a TV screen.

This brand-new handy equipment can store a sizeable picture library. Its memory is expandable and can hold nearly 100 full size pictures. Likewise, it features a 3D Java games engine, while the MP3 player and FM radio provide music and entertainment with great sound quality.

The highlight of the relaxing evening was the "Primavera en Italia" five-course sit-down dinner that had for starters a cold cheese soup with crisp chicken, green asparagus and a tomato salad with garoupa fish carpaccio in arugula bucket. The first course was a delectable risotto with quail in red wine and black truffle oil. This was followed by two main courses: Ribs of lamb with basil and eggplant timbale and a generous portion of perfectly cooked sea bass in a salt crust topped with Tuscan herbs. The piece de resistance was the broiled saffron custard in butter chocolate parfait and pear sauce dessert.

In attendance were business leaders Choy Sala, Dennis Garcia, brothers Rene and Efren Sarmiento, Jose Sala, Efrain Pelaez and Milo Osmeña. The fashion icons included Teresin Mendezona, Annie Aboitiz, Arcy Gayatin and Tessie Javier.

The celebration culminated with the raffling off of two Sony Ericsson K750i. Pre-selected numbers were dialed and the Globe subscriber who responded to the call automatically brought home the most desirable cell phone on the market today.

That was one affair hard to forget for it had all the right ingredients: Fabulous menu, excellent wines, great company, and perfect hosts.
