Cebu hosts GMA’s grand presidential inauguration

It has been claimed, some say much too often, that Cebu and its neighboring provinces delivered the much needed votes during the national elections last May that enabled then incumbent President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to serve another term in Malacañang. As promised, the Chief Executive took her oath of office at the Cebu Provincial Capitol before Cebuano Supreme Court Chief Justice Hilario Davide.

A vin de honneur with the visiting dignitaries as guests followed at the ballroom of the Shangri-La Mactan Island Resort.

Towards dusk, Cebuanos from all walks of life, together with their visitors from all over the country, took to the streets to party, party, party. A fabulous display of fireworks never seen before was the highlight, which will no doubt be well remembered for years to come.
