Dear rissa,
The holidays have been very hectic. I have no time to go to the salon. Do you know anyone that provides pampering services at home?
Stefi D.
I know what you mean. The traffic has been crazy and parking at the malls is a nightmare. Christmas shopping and December parties have also been filling up everyone’s schedules so most women can’t find the time to pamper themselves. I myself am long overdue for a manicure and pedicure, especially after wrapping so many presents! A friend of mine has been raving about VIP Nails Home Service & Spa Expert (tel. 507-9826, mobile 0915-282-2736, e-mail at viphomeservicesspa@yahoo.com). I first saw them when they were featured a few months ago on the TV show Ruffa and Ai. They offer manicures, pedicures, foot spas as well as waxing treatments and body scrubs. If you’re particular with your polish, they only use Orly nail polish. For those who have parties to attend but can’t find the time to hit the salon, they also offer hair services such as blow-dry, hair ironing, haircut, hair treatments, and even beard shaving. This is perfect for the busy month of December — you don’t have to bear with traffic plus you save on gas, parking (and time)! They service anywhere in Metro Manila and take in calls from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you want to be pampered as early as 9 a.m. or as late as 10 p.m., you can easily call a day before and book to make a special appointment. My friend has tried the VIP Whitening Scrub and shared how she really saw the difference in the way her skin really glowed after. The ultimate relaxation is the VIP Signature Hand and Foot Spa, which includes a manicure, pedicure, hand and foot mask plus a 10-minute massage. Yes, all these pampering services with VIP treatment in the comfort of your own home!

Wanted: Home Service
Do you know of an affordable but good makeup artist who can do home service? I am an executive, a vain one I must admit, and my suki of over seven years just relocated abroad to join her parents. I have way too many functions now, and it will really just be simpler if someone could come to my house in the morning to fix me up so that I look ready for all my meetings and presentations as well as dinner functions. It will just be hectic because our principal will be here.
I am also looking for good quality hair extensions. Do you know of a local source please? I want the clip-on ones.
I always watch you on Shall We Dance. To learn Latin dance is on my wish list for 2010.
Clarence
For your hair and makeup needs, you can call Christian at 0917-2428575. He does my makeup so well and so naturally, he is very talented and efficient.
For good quality hair extensions, you should check out Lynelle at Unit 209-B V-mall Shopping Center, Greenhills, San Juan. You may call 584-2641 or 0917-8594930. They also have a shop at Tutuban and a website (lynellehair.com). A lot of the local celebrities go there for good quality extensions.
Thank you for always watching Shall We Dance. It is a happy show and yes, do take up Latin dance lessons! It will be a joyful experience, I promise you that!

Rx: Soap For Dry Skin
What brand of soap or bath cream would you recommend for one who has dry and sensitive skin like myself?
Myla
If you have dry skin, never use anything that makes a lot of bubbles, especially bubble bath. Any product that suds and foams contains detergent, a strict no-no for dry skin. Vigorously foaming soaps are terrible for dry skin because they wash away the natural lipids that help your skin retain moisture, according to Dr. Leslie Baumann, MD.
Use non-foaming cleansers or minimally foaming cleansers like Cetaphil, Dove, Pond’s, or certain Nivea products.
Don’t hesitate to see a dermatologist to help you manage your skin and treat it right. She can advice you on regimens and products to try, and see how they work for you.
