Intercon offerings before it bids ‘adieu’

MANILA, Philippines – The coming holiday season will be a momentous occasion for InterContinental Manila. By the end of this year, the hotel will bid goodbye to its 46 years of existence and make way for a new commercial, mixed-use development that will transform the entrance of Ayala Center Makati into a modern gateway.

InterContinental Manila is the longest-operating international chain hotel in the Philippines. When the hotel first opened its doors to the global community on April 11, 1969, it did so as part of the original InterContinental Hotels Corporation portfolio, under the Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) umbrella. It holds the distinction of being the first 5-star deluxe hotel in Makati and the second InterContinental hotel to open in Asia. The hotel’s Jeepney Restaurant was also witness to daily meetings of Filipino journalists and men in power since 1972.

As the hotel counts down to its closing day, the team at InterContinental Manila has prepared numerous offers designed to evoke nostalgia and give its patrons a chance to experience the hotel one last time. From Dec. 1 to 30, InterContinental Manila’s The Jeepney will take on a festive air with a lunch and dinner buffet lineup of fiesta favorites and other popular delicacies. In line with the hotel’s Heritage Christmas theme, families can relive past celebrations with a feast for four persons for only Php4,600++.

At the same time, the hotel’s signature and all-time favorite dessert, the Crepe Samurai will be on sale for only P460++ for the small size and P1,460++ for the big one. For those wishing to stay at the InterContinental Manila one last time, guests may avail of the special room rate offer of P4600++ per night, inclusive of buffet breakfast for two persons, internet access, and 50% room rate on the second night. This rate is valid for stays from Nov. 27 to 30, Dec. 4 to 7, Dec. 11 to 14 and Dec. 18 to 30, 2015.

At the hotel’s premier fine dining restaurant, Prince Albert Rotisserie, two renowned chefs who started their careers at InterContinental Manila will pay homage to their alma matter via a two-night dinner featuring special menus designed with their own special memories of their days at the InterContinental in mind.

Chef Jessie Sincioco (assistant pastry chef from 1983 to 1990) is most especially proud of having kept the original Crepe Samurai recipe, and even tells a witty tale about it. Chef Jessie will showcase her culinary prowess with her signature dishes and regale guests with her InterContinental memories at Prince Albert Restaurant on Dec. 8.

Chef Billy King (executive chef/F&B director from 1986 to 1988), on the other hand, has so many memories of the Prince Albert, and in turn shares how he introduced and spoiled the Filipino palate with his foie gras and lamb dishes. Guests of the Prince Albert will once again have the chance to partake of Chef Billy’s signature French cuisine on Dec. 9. Finally, fans of the ’80s will get the chance to relieve their Euphoria Disco days as the hotel brings back the disco on Dec. 30 featuring music from Juan Miguel Salvador and the Authority band, as well as the greatest hits from the ’80s played by reigning DJs of the decade.

InterContinental Manila accepts reservations for stays until Dec. 31, 2015. For additional information or to make reservations for any of the above-mentioned offers, please call the hotel at 793-7000 or email manila@ihg.com.
