The grass is greener at The Turf Company

MANILA, Philippines -  The Turf Company has been the golf industry’s best-kept secret, responsible for ensuring the availability of verdant playgrounds through efficient irrigation systems and precision mowing equipment.

A total solutions provider founded in 1988, the company can be credited for being one of the first in the country to offer such highly specialized services and has worked on quite a number of projects for prominent golf courses. It recently supplied the most sophisticated computerized irrigation system to a big project in the north combined with mowing equipment under Toro, the only brand that manufactures both lines.  Almost all golf courses in the country are using Toro equipment.

Along with the installation of irrigation systems, The Turf Company’s core product lines and excellent after-sales service make it an industry leader. The company not only distributes Toro products for residential and commercial landscapes, parks, sports fields and, of course, golf courses; it also custom designs irrigation systems and offers the management and maintenance of various landscaping developments.

Another popular product that The Turf Company distributes is Texas Eagle, an imported brand of golf carts with technologically advanced features that are versatile, reliable and reasonably priced.

Explains general manager Mario Lopez, “We’re seeing a sharp demand for golf carts today due to the booming real estate industry, particularly golf clubs and resort facilities.  Most clubs are also upgrading and moving their equipment fleet to appeal to and accommodate more players.”

Lopez adds, “Our golf cart distribution business remains an important revenue source for the company as non-golf facilities such as wellness centers, farms, industrial plants, airports, hospitals and recreational facilities use golf carts in their operations.”

For most of these facilities, golf carts are used as transport shuttles being that they require very minimal maintenance. An even bigger impact benefits the environment as these vehicles leave zero air and noise pollution while providing a safe, comfortable and sophisticated transportation system.

The Turf Company also imports some 250 products like mowers, fertilizers and chemicals, accessories and parts for irrigation systems and golf carts.

“Our business is not just about sales and accomplishments, but more on building and nurturing relationships with our clients,” Lopez explains.  “We extend consistent support long after a sale has been made.  Most of all, when competition is intense, showing clients that we are the better-organized group that is supported strongly by our foreign principals is crucial.  In fact, we have been happily ‘married’ to the Toro brand for over two decades now.

The company’s technical expertise in irrigation systems, for instance, is backed by Toro University, which created its own training program for its global distributor partners.

There are exciting projects in the pipeline aimed at sealing the company’s leadership role in the industry.   It recently introduced Electric Storm Identification Device (ESID) under the brand Wxline.  This lightning detection system picks up lightning signal from as far as 30 kilometers, and serves as a warning and safety device for athletes in open fields.  Lopez reveals the ESID is being rolled out in the Alabang Golf and Country Club, and that other sports fields are soon to follow.

“We are poised to begin diversification into other areas and niches, expanding to more service and product portfolio that is complementary to what we are doing right now. We will always be your one-stop shop in turf maintenance,” Lopez shares.
