MANILA, Philippines - GE Philippines announces the appointment of J.V. Emmanuel de Dios as the company’s new CEO, the first time in six years that a Filipino will fill the position. De Dios, also known as Jocot, assumed it on Jan. 24 and will report directly to Stuart Dean, CEO of GE ASEAN.
A Master of Laws graduate from Harvard Law School, de Dios brings nearly two decades of experience to GE Philippines. Prior to joining the company, he was managing director and CEO of Nido Petroleum Ltd., a publicly listed oil and gas exploration and production company based in Australia and the Philippines. He also held the position of Undersecretary of the Philippine Department of Energy and chairman of the Philippine National Oil Company Exploration Corp. He presently sits on boards of petroleum and mining companies creating business opportunities and accelerating growth in the energy sector.
De Dios is the first Filipino executive tapped by GE to assume the CEO position since 2005. His appointment emphasizes GE’s commitment to transforming the lives of Filipinos through advances in technology and innovative solutions. With his leadership style and business acumen, de Dios is expected to drive the company forward, accelerate growth and expand “Go-to-Market” platforms. He will likewise be at the helm of implementing the “One GE” coordinated approach that leverages GE’s broad capabilities and ensures that customers’ needs are addressed. In addition, he will be working closely with GE ASEAN, corporate teams and GE business leaders in identifying market expansion opportunities and growing GE’s businesses in the country.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with a highly reputable global company and very proud to be a member of the GE family,” said de Dios. “This is an exciting time for GE to further its innovative solutions and technologies in the Philippines that will benefit the Filipino consumers, our business partners and stakeholders. Further, the Philippines has been identified as one of GE’s focal countries in ASEAN. Thus, I am thrilled to play a very important role and share my expertise and talent toward promoting growth and partnership in the country as One GE.”
“With Jocot coming onboard, we look forward to an even more robust performance as we aggressively pursue opportunities across GE’s diverse businesses including energy, healthcare and aviation,” said Dean. “The Philippines is an important market in the ASEAN region and we welcome 2012 with great optimism and vigor.”
John Rice, GE vice chairman and president and CEO of Global Growth and Operations, added: “Jocot could steer GE Philippines to new heights given his extensive leadership experience, knowledge and understanding of the market and management expertise. We believe that he is the right person for the job as GE intensifies its partnerships in the region while remaining committed to delivering groundbreaking innovations in various sectors. I saw for myself the tremendous potentials that Philippines presents to overall GE operations.”
