Manila, Philippines - GE vice chairman and president and CEO of global growth and operations John Rice was in the Philippines for a two-day visit as part of his ASEAN tour to further strengthen GE partnerships in nationwide developments, banking on the strength of GE’s innovative technology and services.
With over 30 achievement-filled years in GE, 54-year-old Rice was chosen by GE chairman Jeffrey Immelt to head the company’s growth outside the United States in January this year, focusing on GE ASEAN markets that include the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as high-growth markets China, India, Brazil and the Middle East. His latest appointment as president and CEO of global growth and operations was driven by global recognition and the respect he enjoys from business and government leaders, a crucial factor in the success of GE’s focused goal on global development. Before taking on the leadership of GE’s global growth division, Rice was GE vice chairman since 2005 and president and CEO of the GE Technology Infrastructure division in 2007. For his Philippine visit, Rice leveraged on the role of GE as a development partner of the Philippines that began in 1890 and incorporated in 1935.
In the Philippines, Rice met with top-level business leaders not only to deepen existing partnerships but also to further explore growth opportunities where GE technology and services can be utilized, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, healthcare, power and energy, capital and other industries. His itinerary was in line with GE’s strategy of having a strong presence in the relevant ASEAN by using a combination of GE-designed projects and the expertise of local teams to execute the company’s growth plans.
