MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra closes its season with a program featuring movie themes on April 11, 8 p.m. at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater) under the baton of Maestro Olivier Ochanine.
The program features some popular classics from the film music repertoire, including scores written for films and classical music written long ago but made famous through films. Music includes Morning from Grieg’s Peer Gynt, selections from E.T. and The Good, the Bad & The Ugly, as well as the stunning Also Sprach Zarathustra of Richard Strauss, whose 150th birth anniversary will be commemorated in 2014, and whose prelude is known by all for its inclusion in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Ticket prices are P1,500, P1,200, P800, P500, with discounts available to students, senior citizens and groups. Subscription packages are also available for eight or four shows.
