MANILA, Philippines - The Bonafide Art Galleries Organization (BAGO), in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), presents “ManilArt09,” the first Philippine international art fair, on July 16 to 19 at the NBC Tent, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
ManilArt09 features 500 artworks and 40 galleries under one roof. Local, regional, and international galleries will participate and prestigious museums are well represented.
Art Fair Catalogue, which contains the profiles of ManilArt09 participants, will also be published in cooperation with Manila Contemporary Art magazine.
“The association of privately owned galleries collectively known as BAGO is grateful to the NCCA through its Committee on Galleries headed by Lyn Yusi as they initiated the project and approved the grant. This art fair is a historical event as it serves as the impetus for us (gallery owners) to unite with the main objective of showcasing to the world how advanced we are in terms of visual arts,” says Jonathan Sy, project director and gallery owner.
The Exclusive Preview Night will be held on July 16 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. ManilArt09 will be open to the public from July 17 to 19 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Entrance fee is P200. Students and senior citizens with valid Ids can get 50-percent discount.
“Art is one of the best opportunities for Filipinos to be proud of their countrymen’s creativity. It is also an avenue for us to gain respect and appreciation from foreigners,” Sy adds.
