PETA stages 'Saan Ba Tayo Ihahatid ng Disyembre?'

This February, Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) premieres a play about love and relationships. Tony Perez’ Saan Ba Tayo Ihahatid ng Disyembre? will take the audience into a psycho-emotional journey into the lives of three people — Lalaki (Juliene Mendoza/Jack Yabut), Babae (Angeli Bayani) and Isa Pang Lalaki (Lex Marcos) friends and lovers who got together in the coldest, and yet most festive time of the year.

The play completes Tony Perez’s trilogy on friendship, love and companionship, which began with Oktubre, Noong Tayo’y Nagmamahalan Pa and Nobyembre, Noong Akala Ko’y Mahal Kita, two blockbusters produced by Tanghalang Pilipino at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in the ’90s. Although like the first two plays, Saan Ba Tayo Ihahatid Ng Disyembre? functions as an independent play that brings the trilogy to a dazzling closure and a full circle to its beginning. The entire collection, with its finale produced by PETA, is now a major work in postmodern Philippine drama.

Actor Alfred Vargas is acting as a guest artist for PETA. He takes on the role of a young artist, Isa Pang Lalaki, which is also played by Lex Marcos. The Ateneo graduate started acting for Tanghalang Ateneo before making it in showbiz, taking on characters that are far different from his more popular roles on television.

Directed by Nonon Padilla, Saan Ba Tayo Ihahatid ng Disyembre? is about understanding human relationships. An end to a trilogy about love, friendship and how the two cannot do without the other. A play that reflects what we know of ourselves and the truth about life itself.

Saan Ba Tayo Ihahatid ng Disyembre? Will be shown at the PETA Theater Center from Feb. 6 to 8, 13 to 15, 20 to 22, 27 to 28; March 1, 6 to 8, 13 to 15 (Friday at 2:30 p.m./7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m./3 p.m.).
