Letran is 386

The Colegio de San Juan de Letran marks its 386th foundation celebration with a series of activities at the Letran Grounds from December 6 to 20. With the theme "Letranites: Responding to the Challenges of Globalization in the 21st Century," this year's festivity is led by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences under Dean Jolaflor Cabildo.

The daily celebrations begin with a Novena Mass at the College Chapel at 7 a.m., followed by events evenly spread out during the entire foundation celebration.

A grand parade is scheduled to take place on December 13 at 8 a.m., followed by a field demonstration of students in all levels. This much-anticipated event showcases the dancing prowess of elementary, high school and collegiate students in a friendly competition. On the same day, the Social Sciences Area holds Heritage Quiz.

One of the highlights of the celebration is a symposium on globalization which will be held on December 14 at 9 a.m. Guest speaker is Dr. Ethel Agnes Valenzuela, head researcher at SEAMEO Innotech.

Ronald Dugang of the Center for Community Development heads the gift-giving activity on December 15 at 8 a.m., and a bingo session is scheduled to take place on December 18 at 1 p.m.

The two-week celebration culminates with an institutional Christmas party on December 20.
