The genius of black and/or white dressing has been extolled by the legendary designer Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. She believed that the use of these two polarizing hues forced the eye to focus on form. Later on, the French legend would invent the classically famous “Little Black Dress” that would be the default outfit of cocktail-bound fashionistas to this day.
For this holiday season, Naf Naf offers a line of black and/or white clothing that appeals both to the ladies who love adventure as well as ladies who take their cosmos in between dishes of gossip and laughter. For the “ber” months, the Paris-based company makes use of chiffon, tulle, faux leather and stretch lace.
“The thing about using black and white is that you can never go wrong with your color combination,” explains Naf Naf distributor and Cinderella Dresses Inc. marketing head Janet Coronel. “You do not have to stress thinking if the hues match and this leaves you time to think about form and accessories.”
The use of black and white does not limit you to these tones when choosing accessories. But consistency is important. If you are wearing silver earrings, then make sure that the rest of your hard wear is silver as well (the metal strap of your bag, bracelets or necklaces). Shoes may be matte gold, silver, black or flesh tone. A pair of flesh tone shoes is a particular favorite of this columnist as it lengthens the legs and can be used in combination with any color scheme.
The popular Naf Naf brand was created in 1978 by brothers Gerard and Patrick Pariente and has since made headlines in Manila as a go-to line for modern yet feminine garment, accessories and footwear. In 1984, Cinderella Dresses introduced the Paris brand to the Philippines and has succeeded in making Naf Naf popular among the 18- to 30-year-old demographic.
