'Lannie' slightly intensifies as it exits PAR

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Lannie has slightly intensified as it moved out of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Saturday morning, September 6, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
As of 10 a.m., Lannie’s center was located 400 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 70 kph, and a central pressure of 1002 hPa.
It is moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.
While no tropical cyclone wind signal is currently hoisted, Lannie continues to enhance the southwest monsoon.
Strong to gale-force gusts may be experienced over Ilocos Region, Cagayan and Isabela throughout the weekend, especially in coastal and upland areas.
PAGASA said that Lannie is expected to move northwestward toward southern China and intensify into a tropical storm by Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
