Tropical Depression Kiko exits PAR

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Kiko left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 3.
State weather bureau PAGASA said the system was about 1,120 kilometers east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon.
It had sustained winds of up to 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts to 70 kph, moving north-northwest at 15 kph.
Kiko formed inside the PAR as a low-pressure area on Tuesday, September 2, and intensified into a tropical depression by 8 a.m. on Wednesday.
Despite its intensification, it did not directly affect the country. The southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” remained the prevailing system bringing rain to some areas.
