At 2 p.m. yesterday, typhoon “Egay’ was estimated at 170 kms northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 205 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph. It is forecast to move northwest at 15 kph.

A moderate to strong southwesterly windflow prevails over Luzon and Western Visayas.

Batanes and the Babuyan group of islands will have stormy weather, while Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Kalinga, Apayao, Ilocos Norte and Abra will have rains and gusty winds, and rough coastal waters.

The western section of Luzon will have monsoon rains, while the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will be cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Coastal waters in the rest of Luzon and the Visayas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, seas will be slight to moderate.

Temperature forecasts: Metro Manila, 24-27 degrees Celsius; Baguio City, 16-21; Tagaytay City, 21-28; Subic, Clark zone and lahar areas, 23-29; Metro Cebu, 25-31; Metro Davao, 24-32; and Cagayan de Oro, 23-32.

Tidal predictions in Manila Bay: high tide at 1:17 a.m. at 0.75 meter, and at 1:17 p.m. at 0.85 meter; low tide at 6:47 a.m. at 0.46 meter. Sunrise is at 5:43 a.m.; sunset at 6:17 p.m.
