BC Cheetahs eye repeat, Webmasters seek revenge

CEBU, Philippines — An anticipated grudge rematch between the Benedicto College (BC) Cheetahs and the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters will headline a five-game bill that kicks off the second round of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Season 26 basketball tournament today (Saturday, October 17) at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Cheetahs, who lead the college division standings with a 7-1 win-loss record, dominated the previously undefeated Webmasters, 67-50, in their first meeting last September 15.

BC will try to prove that its convincing victory was no fluke when the two teams clash anew at 5 p.m.

But the Cheetahs can expect a tougher challenge this time as the Webmasters are eager to get even and improve their 5-3 mark.

In the other collegiate matchup, the 2-6 University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons will take on the 1-7 University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) at 3:30 p.m.

UP Cebu prevailed over UCLM, 66-59, in their previous encounter on September 30.

Meanwhile, the unbeaten Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles will face the UC Junior Webmasters in an exciting showdown between two of the league’s top high school teams.

The five-time defending champion Magis Eagles carry a spotless 4-0 record, while the Junior Webmasters sport a 7-1 slate.

In the 10:30 a.m. opener, the 5-2 Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Junior Wildcats will clash with the 2-4 San Carlos School of Cebu (SCSC) Baby Warriors.

The day’s second game pits the 2-3 Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons against the 1-5 PAREF Springdale Titans at 12:30 p.m.
