MANILA, Philippines — Around 1.1 million minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region will receive a P60 daily wage increase as Wage Order No. NCR-28 officially took effect yesterday, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced.
Under the wage order, the minimum daily wage for non-agricultural workers in NCR is up from P695 to P755.
An upward adjustment in minimum daily wage from P658 to P718 takes effect for workers in agriculture, small retail and service establishments employing 15 workers or less, as well as in small manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers.
Labor Secretary Secretary Francis Tolentino called on employers to strictly comply with the new minimum wage rates and ensure that their payroll and compensation systems reflect the prescribed increases.
“The department will continue to monitor compliance with the wage order and provide guidance to workers and employers on its proper implementation,” Tolentino said.
At the same time, DOLE emphasized that the wage order follows the established tripartite wage-setting process undertaken by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR and confirmed by the National Wages and Productivity Commission.
The new wage order has taken effect while Wage Order No. NCR-27 is still being challenged before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 152 and Navotas City Regional Trial Court Branch 287.
Under Wage Order No. 27, the first tranche of P60 increase was supposed to take effect on July 25, and the remaining P25 scheduled in January 2027.
