Missing sabungeros’ kin also missing?
MANILA, Philippines — Despite reports that some relatives of missing cockfight enthusiasts will not appear in court, the Department of Justice (DOJ) will continue pursuing cases involving the sabungeros.
“We noticed that some of the complainants are missing and have totally stopped speaking and coordinating with us,” DOJ Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon said yesterday.
Two of three complainants in cases filed before a court in Sta. Cruz, Laguna have “disappeared,” he said.
In San Pablo, Laguna and Lipa, Batangas, the DOJ still has “no contact” with the complainants.
All cases have been transferred to three courts in Quezon City, Fadullon said.
Evidence will be presented to oppose bail petitions, he added.
Kidnapping, serious illegal detention and homicide charges have been filed against gaming tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang and police officers accused of kidnapping sabungeros.
