Transport strike set next week

MANILA, Philippines — Transport groups Manibela and Piston are set to hold a series of strikes next week amid soaring fuel prices.

Manibela chairman Mar Valbuena said their strike would be held from Sept. 28 to 30.

Piston president Mody Floranda earlier said his group would hold a transport strike from Sept. 29 to 30, which will be joined by labor and urban poor groups.

The transport leaders made the announcement following oil price hikes.

This week’s fuel prices ballooned to P110 per liter, with motorists expecting another series of oil price hikes next week.

Oil prices continue to spike amid the Middle East war.
