Robinsons Retail tumibay suporta sa Fighting Maroons

MANILA, Philippines —  Kahit napagtatalo ay hindi iniwan ng Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. ang University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons sa kaagahan ng kanilang pagsasanib.

May 17 taon ng suportado ng Robinsons Retail ang UP men’s basketball team, nagsimula ito noong 2010 at kahit sa panahong hirap manalo ang koponan ay nanatiling nakakapit sa kanila si Robina Gokongwei-Pe.

Si Gokongwei-Pe ang chairman ng Robinsons Retail, hindi nito iniwan ang UP at nagbunga naman ang buong suporta nito sa koponan.

“No one wants to support a losing team. But I’ve been in business for 40 years. When Robinsons Retail started 46 years ago, we were building the business from the ground up with a single store. Very few suppliers wanted to support us because they weren’t sure we knew what we were doing. But there were a small group of suppliers who saw in our eyes that, with their support, we could be successful one day,” kuwento ni Gokongwei-Pe.

Nakitaan ng determi­nasyon ang UP kaya  nag­pasya ang Robinsons Retail Holdings, Inc. na suportahan ang koponan.

“It was the same with the UP Fighting Maroons. We saw it in their eyes,” ani Gokongwei-Pe.

Ayon kay Gokongwei-Pe, ang magandang relas­yon nila sa Fighting Maroons ang nakatulong sa kanya at sa Ro­binsons Retail family kaya isa na rin itong paraan ng pasasalamat sa paghubog sa  kanila.

“Supporting the UP MBT was never just a sponsorship. It was one way of giving back to the university that helped make us who we are today. There are many ways to help one’s school, and this was one way we could help,” sabi ni Gokongwei-Pe.
