Thompson opisyal na sa Heat
MIAMI — Opisyal nang nilagdaan ni Klay Thompson ang isang two-year, $13 million contract sa Heat na may isang player option sa ikalawang season.
Makakasama ni Thompson -- ang No. 4 sa NBA all-time 3-pointers made list -- sa Miami sina dating Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo at forward Bobby Portis bukod kay Tim Hardaway Jr.
“Klay is one of the most iconic players to ever suit up in the NBA,” sabi ni Heat President Pat Riley. “A four-time battle tested World Champion who will fit perfectly into his role as an all-around player at both ends of the court. We all talk about his shooting skill, but there is so much more he brings to the game. We are blessed that Klay chose the Heat in our quest to challenge for championships.”
Naglaro si Thompson ng dalawang seasons para sa Dallas Mavericks at naglista ng average na 12.9 points tampok ang 38.7% sa three-point range.
Kailangan ng Miami ang isang sharpshooter na kagaya ng 36-anyos na si Thompson, maglalaro sa kanyang ika-14 season (hindi kasama ang 2 season kung saan siya nagkaroon ng injury), para sa kanilang kampanya.
Sa nakaraang season ay nagsalpak siya ng higit sa 200 three-pointers.
Nakatambal ni Thompson si Stephen Curry bilang “Splash Brothers” duo na nagbigay sa Golden State Warriors ng apat na NBA championships.
Sinasabing target din ng Heat na mahugot si Curry mula sa Warriors.
