MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi) has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA said Saturday, July 11.

As of 8 a.m., the state weather bureau said Inday was last located 555 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

The typhoon maintained its strength, with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

It was moving north-northwestward at 25 kph as it continued to move away from the country.

In its earlier 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Inday was expected to continue moving northwestward and may make landfall or pass close to the Sakishima Islands in southern Japan before exiting PAR.

The typhoon is then forecast to traverse the East China Sea before making landfall over the eastern coast of mainland China.

The weather bureau said Inday may remain a typhoon within the next 12 hours before weakening into a severe tropical storm as it moves farther inland over mainland China.
