JoyRide Car readies for higher demand amid erratic weather conditions

MANILA, Philippines — As Filipinos contend with extreme heat, sudden downpours and increasingly unpredictable weather, JoyRide Philippines is preparing for higher ride-hailing demand by expanding its driver network, reinforcing safety measures and strengthening support for its driver-partners.
Despite the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) declaration of the onset of the rainy season in early June, many parts of the country continue to experience intense heat punctuated by sudden rains and thunderstorms brought about by the southwest monsoon and other weather systems.
For mobility services like JoyRide Car, these conditions often translate to increased demand for four-wheeled transportation as commuters seek sheltered, air-conditioned and convenient alternatives to walking long distances, waiting outdoors or enduring lengthy queues.
According to JoyRide Philippines president Sherwin Yu, the company has been proactively preparing for these seasonal mobility challenges by expanding its JoyRide Car driver network and ensuring service readiness across its operations.
"Whether it's extreme heat, heavy rains or sudden weather changes, Filipinos need transportation they can depend on," Yu said.
"That's why JoyRide Car continues to expand our driver network, keep fares affordable, promote safety among our driver-partners, and provide incentives that help ensure service availability. Our goal is to make sure Filipino commuters can get to where they need to be safely and comfortably, regardless of the weather."
In recent months, JoyRide Car has conducted a series of onboarding activities across areas including Quezon City, Pasay City, Las Piñas City, Antipolo, and parts of Bulacan and Cavite to bring more driver-partners onto its platform as part of efforts to meet growing demand for ride-hailing services.
The company is also reminding driver-partners to observe proper safety protocols during periods of extreme weather, including conducting regular vehicle inspections, practicing defensive driving, and taking appropriate precautions during heavy rains and high-temperature conditions.
Apart from safety initiatives, JoyRide Car continues to roll out programs that support driver welfare, including incentive schemes and engagement activities designed to help driver-partners maximize their earning opportunities while remaining active on the platform.
The company recently reaffirmed its industry-low 10% commission rate for driver-partners. New drivers can also receive up to P8,000 in top-up credits upon completing their registration.
As weather conditions remain unpredictable, JoyRide Car said its focus remains on ensuring that commuters have access to reliable transportation while supporting the welfare and readiness of its growing community of driver-partners.
The preparations come as mobility providers across the country anticipate higher demand during periods of extreme weather, when dependable transportation becomes an increasingly important part of daily life.
