MANILA, Philippines — AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp. (ALLHC) is bolstering its cold storage footprint this year to meet the  country’s  rising demand for dependable modern cold storage solutions.

ALLHC chief operating officer Patrick Avila said the company recently opened two new cold storage facilities under the Artico Cold Chain brand, with one more slated to open later this year.

The newly opened facilities in Consolacion, Cebu and Santa Rosa, Laguna adds 9,000 pallet positions, expanding ALLHC’s total cold storage capacity to over 40,000 pallet positions.

The company was able to expand its cold storage footprint to 31,600 pallet positions by end-2025, a 56-percent jump from 20,300 pallet positions in 2024.

Avila said the company is also building another cold storage facility in Vermosa in Cavite, which is intended to be completed by the latter part of the year.

The upcoming facility will add 5,000 pallet positions.

“Because we already have nine operating cold storage facilities, the focus right now is to stabilize the operations and the occupancies,” Avila said.

As the industrial real estate arm of property giant Ayala Land Inc., ALLHC develops world-class industrial estates. It is present in growth areas nationwide through its industrial parks, warehouses, cold storage facilities, data centers and commercial leasing.

The company is also continuously working to shift more of its facilities to renewable energy.

ALLHC has successfully transitioned its Artico Mandaue and Artico Biñan 2 cold storage facilities to renewable energy source through the company’s participation in the government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).

Avila said the company plans to convert two to three more facilities to GEOP this year.

He said more facilities will also have rooftop solar by the end of the year.

An initiative under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008, the GEOP empowers eligible end-users to source their power from certified renewable energy suppliers directly.

The program is part of the country’s broader strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in the country’s power generation mix and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

During the first quarter of the year, ALLHC reported a net income of P5 million, 92.4 percent lower than the P66 million registered the previous year on the back of lower lot sales coupled with higher depreciation and financing costs related to prior expansions.
