MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of public school students in Parañaque City will receive free school uniforms and shoes for the opening of classes on June 8, Councilor Pablo Olivarez II announced over the weekend.

“This will be the first time that Kindergarten and elementary pupils in our city will receive free school uniforms and shoes,” Olivarez said.

The city council has approved an ordinance authorizing the release of the funding for the program, he said.

The initiative aims to ease the financial burden of parents and ensure that young learners are equipped for the upcoming school year, according to Olivarez.

“The program reflects the city government’s continued commitment to supporting education and promoting the welfare of public school students,” Olivarez said.

The mayor’s office and the city council started distributing uniforms and shoes to public schools in the city’s two districts last week.
