Super Typhoon ‘Sinlaku’ won’t enter PAR

MANILA, Philippines — A super typhoon with international name Sinlaku is not likely to enter the Philippine area of responsibility, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said yesterday.
According to the 5 p.m. weather forecast, Sinlaku has sustained winds at 215 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching up to 265 kph.The state weather bureau located the super typhoon approximately at 2,430 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas as of 3 p.m.Sinlaku will not affect the country’s weather as it passes Guam in the Micronesian region, PAGASA said.
Fair weather is expected across the Philippines today due to the influence of a ridge of high pressure area and the easterlies.Warm conditions will prevail across the rest of the country, with the possibility of afternoon rainshowers or thunderstorms.
The heat index yesterday at Aparri, Pasay, San Ildefonso, Tanauan City and Tuguegarao City was forecast at 40 degrees Celsius.
A haze warning was also issued by PAGASA for Metro Manila and nearby areas, advising residents to wear face masks for protection.
