How to respond to a DDoS attack, according to DICT

MANILA, Philippines — A possible Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack may occur this week.
On Sunday, November 2, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) warned that the attack could happen on Wednesday, November 5.
The attack could make websites, apps, or online services temporarily unavailable by overwhelming them with a flood of internet traffic.
If users encounter an inaccessible website due to a DDoS attack, the DICT advised them to do the following:
- Try ulit mamaya (Try it again later)
- Gamitin ang official app o status page. (Use the official app or status page)
- Sundan ang verified updates (follow verified updates).
The agency also reminded the public not to engage in illegal online activities amid the warning.
The DICT assured that a DDoS attack will not compromise personal accounts, data, or money.
The DICT said it is coordinating with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), and other law enforcement agencies to ensure an immediate response and protection of online platforms.
It added that its National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT) is on 24/7 monitoring to help safeguard the country’s digital space.
